Burlington, VT (Chittenden County) – On September 15, 2007, Burlington, Vermont Police handled a unique case. A child was at a friend’s house and wanted to stay the night. His friend’s mother required him to call his mother and request her permission to stay. He made a fake phone call in front of his friend’s mother who was led to believe it was a legitimate call in which he notified his mother. Instead, the boy’s mother called police and reported her son missing. Ultimately he was returned safely to his home… A Child Is Missing doesn’t know what happened when he got there.

Missing Child - Recovered: Saturday, April 16, 2005

Story:

Burlington, VT (Chittenden County) - On April 16, 2005, a 10-year-old boy was reported missing from a local park in Burlington, Vermont. A dispatcher at the Burlington Police Department contacted A Child Is Missing and reported a full description to be distributed via telephone. A Child Is Missing placed 1147 calls over the area where the missing child was last seen, and of the approximately 30 calls back, 2 girls returning home from a local shopping plaza were informed of the missing child from neighbors who received calls. The girls then told their father that they saw the boy at a shop in the plaza. The Father reported this to the police, and the child was found where the girls had seen him.
