Pensacola, Florida (Escambia County) Police Department “On 7-10-10, the Pensacola Police Department received a call in reference to an elderly gentleman that wandered away from his residence. The gentleman had been diagnosed with dementia. The complainant searched for over an hour after she discovered her loved one missing before she called Police. He had been missing since 1550 hours and nightfall was rapidly approaching. Officer Ard called ACIM and within 15 minutes a phone call was received and our missing citizen was located at another apartment complex about a mile away. More than 2,900 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the Edgewater address where the man had last been seen. In response, 2 phone calls with information were received. One citizen, having received the alert, also called the man’s Pastor, who located the missing man at the church and drove him home.

Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Sunday, May 23, 2010, a 59 year old man suffering from Alzheimer’s went missing in Chipley, Florida while shopping with his wife. Dispatcher Cate called A Child Is Missing to activate the Alert Program to assist the agency’s search. More than 2,000 alert calls were launched in the area surrounding Brickyard Road address where the man was last seen. Shortly after, a woman who received the alert called when she saw the man walking down the road in front of her residence. Ultimately, the man was located safe, approximately 2 miles from where he had gone missing.

Story:

Ocala Police Department, Ocala, FL May 15, 2010, an 86 year old man, suffering from Early-Onset Alzheimer’s, wandered away from the assisted living facility where he was being cared for. Ocala officers initiated an A Child Is Missing Alert for the gentlemen, and 3,211 calls were made. The next day, over 24 hours from the time he was last seen, the gentleman was located and safely recovered from a water treatment plant. The plant was almost 1 mile away from the assisted living facility.

Jacksonville, Florida (Duval County) Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, May 11, 2010, Detective Richardson contacted A Child Is Missing Alert to assist his agency in the search for an 85 year old man suffering from dementia who had gone missing earlier that evening. More than 1,200 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the Sawpit Road address where he was last seen. In response, the Sheriff’s Office received three phone calls with information as to the direction of travel for the missing man. Those calls also identified an individual who gave the missing man a ride. With this information, deputies were able to locate the man safe approximately 25 miles from where he had gone missing. This case demostrates the unique capabilities of ACIM alerts.

Davie, Florida (Broward County) Police Department Tuesday, April 27, 2010, Officer Rodriguez activated A Child Is Missing Alert to assist the agency in searching for a missing 18 year old thought to be in need of medical assistance. The man suffers from tremors and had not taken his medication that day. He had last been seen earlier in the afternoon near the 3300 block of 78th Avenue and more than 5,000 alert calls were placed surrounding that area. Those alert calls resulted in a phone call from a resident who received the alert call and had seen a man matching the description given in the alert. Police responded to the location and discovered the man had already been transported to the hospital by Fire Rescue. Upon reporting to the hospital, officers were able to positively identify the man as the one they had been searching for. The total time from activation to safe assisted recovery was approximately one hour, thus preserving law enforcement time and resources.

Pembroke Pines, Florida (Broward County) Police Department On Sunday, March 14, 2010 Officer Venema activated A Child Is Missing Alert to assist his agency’s search for a 9 year old boy who had gone missing from the 8500 block of Taft Street in Hollywood. The boy had run away before and Police were attempting to locate him by tracking his cell phone. Over 1,800 alert calls were placed. As a result of those alert calls, a call was received from a citizen who saw the boy outside of the perimeter police were using. Police were then able to adjust the targeted search area, and with the assistance of a phone trace, the boy was located safe, approximately 3 miles from where he had gone missing.

More than 2,400 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the campsite, and in response, numerous calls were received from the public with information. One of those calls was from a citizen who was able to provide deputies with the man’s location. Ultimately, he was located safe 5 miles from where he had gone missing.

Sanibel, Florida (Lee County) Police Department-SilverAlert- When a partially blind seventy-eight year old man with dementia went missing near the 3000 block of Singing Winds Drive, Lieutenant Cooper of the Sanibel Police Department activated the A Child is Missing Alert. Over 4,500 alert calls were placed to neighbors and residents in the tightly knit community. When the missing man returned home of his own accord that evening, his neighbor, having received an alert call, phoned Police, who were then able to check that the man was safe. The search was called off, saving law enforcement time and resources.

Hillsborough County, Florida Sheriff’s Office On February 15, 2010, an 11 year old boy went missing from the 300 block of Chastain Road in Seffner, Florida and Deputy Kowal activated the A Child is Missing Alert. More than 2,100 alert calls were placed in the area, giving the boys description and asking anyone with information to call Police. One of the recipients of those calls gave the location of the boy, which Police were then able to recover safe, a little less than a mile from where he had gone missing. “Successful recovery of missing juvenile,” said Communications Supervisor Alex Diaz, “we can’t thank you enough for the support you provide us.”

On January 16, 2010, The Highlands County Sheriff's Office received a call from concerned residents regarding a young blonde girl wandering unattended near the intersection of Citroen Drive and Romeo Street in Sebring, Florida. When deputies arrived to investigate, the child was gone. Fearing for the safety of the child, Sergeant Barry Jones activated The A Child is Missing Alert and nearly 700 alert calls were placed in the area where the girl was seen. According to Sgt. Jones, the system “Worked Perfect,” as many residents came out of their homes and searched the area for the girl. One recipient of the alert call came forward and was able to identify the girl and her home to the Sheriff’s office. Use of the A Child is Missing Alert System saved law enforcement time and resources.

The girl had last been seen in the 1500 block of Carter Oaks Drive in Valrico, Florida at 10:00am that Sunday. A Child Is Missing placed more than 1,700 alert calls in search of the girl. Five people contacted police with information as a result of the alert calls, but it was an unknown alert call recipient who was responsible for the child’s safe return shortly after 8:00 that night.

Quincy, Florida (Gadsden County) Police Department When an eight year old boy went missing after school in Quincy, Florida on December 11, 2009 and never returned home, Quincy Police began a search. Nearly 5,000 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the 700 block of South Stewart Street where the boy had last been seen. As a result of those alert calls, the boy was located within three hours and was found safe approximately two-and-a-half miles from where he had gone missing.

Sarasota County, Florida Sheriff’s Office “Citizens received your [alert] calls and came out of their houses to meet passing deputies,” said an official from the Sarasota County, Florida Sheriff’s Office. When a 69 year old man in need of medical attention went missing from the 6300 block of Camphor Avenue in Sarasota on November 23, 2009, many who received alert phone calls from A Child Is Missing “gave information regarding last location seen” and enabled deputies to learn the man had purchases a bus ticket to an out of town location officials said. Through investigation deputies were able to make law enforcement contact with the man and ensure his safety.

The boy had last been seen in the 5600 block of Cecelia Drive in New Port Richey, Florida at 8:35 and A Child Is Missing placed nearly 4,000 alert calls to the area surrounding that location. Those alert calls resulted in four or five calls to the Sheriff’s Office with information about the whereabouts of the boy. Ultimately, as a result of the alert calls, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office personnel safely located the boy at 1:30 that afternoon approximately ½ mile from where he had last been seen.

Pasco County, Florida Sheriff’s Office On October 15, 2009 the Pasco County, Florida Sheriff’s Office had been working a case of a missing 61 year old man who had numerous medical concerns. The man had always been supervised, had never gone missing before, and didn’t like to leave his house. Family members had communicated to Pasco County Sheriff’s Office officials that the man had recently been hallucinating and depressed. Sheriff’s Office personnel had checked with taxi companies, hospitals, shelters, and other facilities numerous times with no sign of the man. With a helicopter search scheduled for 3:00pm that day, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office contacted A Child Is Missing and nearly 1,400 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding where the man had last been seen. Three alert call recipients contacted the Sheriff’s Office, including a woman who said she had been on duty at a local hospital when the man walked in. This specific information led the Sheriff’s Office to the hospital where the man was safely located approximately five to 10 miles from where he had gone missing—a recovery which eliminated the need for the helicopter search.

Jacksonville Beach, Florida (Duval County) Police Department An 11 year old girl left for school on her bike at 7:00am in Jacksonville Beach, Florida on September 22, 2009 and never made it to school. Her mother, thinking she was in school all day, didn’t realize she was missing until the girl did not come home after school. This quickly resulted in a search for the girl, but with a significant time delay. The Jacksonville Beach Police Department activated the A Child Is Missing Alert Program and more than 7,000 alert calls were placed to the areas surrounding the girls home and school. As a result of the alert calls, Jacksonville Beach Police began receiving phone calls regarding where the girl had been seen that day—18 calls with information in total. At 10:30 that night the girl was located some 40 miles away as a result of information generated by the alert phone calls.

Sunrise, Florida (Broward County) Police Department When a 71 year old woman went missing in Sunrise, Florida, the Sunrise Police Department called A Child Is Missing. In a recent similar case the agency had worked, the elderly person for whom it was searching was found deceased. In this particular case, the woman had gone missing from the 8400 block of Northwest 26th Street in Sunrise on September 21, 2009 at 7:30am. With a helicopter already mobilized and with Sunrise Police personnel checking nearby canals, more then 5,700 alert phone calls were placed by A Child Is Missing. That resulted in five to seven calls to Sunrise Police with information—which led to the woman being safely located at 5:30pm near the intersection of McNab Road and the Sawgrass Expressway some five to six miles from where she had gone missing.

More than 1,400 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the 23000 block of Peachland Boulevard where the girl had last been seen at approximately 4:00pm. Three people who received an alert call, contacted the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office as a result. Information provided by those phone calls led Sheriff’s Office personnel to the girl’s safe location at 5:17pm .6 miles from where she had last been seen.

Bunnell, Florida (Flagler County) Police Department A 16 year old girl, thought to be in the company of male, had gone missing in Palm Coast, Florida at 7:45am on September 11, 2009. The Bunnell Police included activation of the A Child Is Missing Alert Program in their search for the two and nearly 1,500 alert calls were placed to the area. This resulted in calls with information, not only to Bunnell Police, but also the Flagler County, Florida Sheriff’s Office and the Emergency Operations Center that had been established. As a result of information received from the alert calls, the missing girl’s mother was able to locate her safe in Jacksonville, Florida some 80 miles north.

As a result of information generated by those alert calls, the boy was located safe at 5:48pm approximately ¼ mile from where he had last been seen.

Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office In Vernon, Florida on the evening of September 1, 2009, a 13 year old girl had last been seen at approximately 6:00 near the 3000 block of Culpepper Lane and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office began searching for her. Part of the agency’s search included activating the A Child Is Missing Alert Program and Sergeant Derek Hayes placed the call. After providing all the necessary case information, A Child Is Missing placed less than 800 alert calls to the area surrounding where the 13 year old had last been seen. In response, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office fielded 34 calls from residents who had received the alert call. Information gleaned from those calls enabled the Sheriff’s Office to locate the girl 15 miles away in Chipley, Florida later that evening.

Sergeant Ellis of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office was working the case and had the A Child Is Missing Alert Program activated by Dispatcher Ott. More than 2,300 alert calls were placed to the area in which Collier County Deputies were searching. With information provided by individuals who had called Collier County regarding the missing girls, Deputies were able to safely locate them 5 ½ hours after they went missing approximately five miles from where they had last been seen.

When a 60 year old man in need of medical assistance went missing from the area of Clear Place in Ocala, Florida, the Marion County, Florida Sheriff’s Office began a search. Marion County Sheriff’s Sergeant Hughes activated the Alert Program on April 30, 2009 at approximately noon. More than 1,700 alert calls were placed to residences and businesses in the area surrounding where the man had last been seen. One of the recipients of the alert call was a store owner in the 6800 block of Southeast Highway 464 approximately three miles from where the man went missing. The store owner called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and reported that the missing man was in the store.

Story:

Sanibel, Florida (Lee County) Police Department On Sunday, April 19, 2009 at approximately 9:30am, a man in Sanibel, Florida called Police there to report his wife missing. He told Sanibel Police that, after shaving in the bathroom, he returned to the lanai where his wife had been, only to find her missing. The man told Police his wife suffers from "advanced" Alzheimer's. In addition to immediately responding to the condominium complex where the couple lives and issuing a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) for the woman, Sanibel Police also contacted A Child Is Missing. Shortly after, a woman called Sanibel Police "to report she had received a telephone alert about the missing person and she though that [the missing woman] was at her resort pool," according to a Sanibel Police report. Responding to that resort, approximately 1 1/8 miles from where she lived, they located the woman and safely reunited her with her husband.

As a direct result of these alert calls, both the woman and the girl was located safely just 1/10 of a mile from the 500 block of Oakhaven Circle.

When a 70 year old man thought to be in need of medical attention went missing from the area of Highway 27 and Lake June Road in Lake Placid, Florida at noon on April 15, 2009, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office answered the call and began the search. Activating the A Child Is Missing Alert Program was part of the agency’s efforts and more than 2,800 alert calls were placed to an area in which the man had previously been sighted. After the alert calls were launched, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a lot of phone calls from people who received an alert call and remembered seeing the man. Information from these calls led Deputies to the man’s location near a shopping center approximately seven miles from where he had last been seen.

She was located in the 5300 block of Catt Street in Naples, Florida on March 28, 2009 after having gone missing from the 5200 block of Broward Street in that city earlier that day. Deputy Anna Cohen had activated the Alert Program seeking assistance in the Collier County Sheriff’s Office search and nearly 3,000 alert calls were placed resulting in the girl’s safe recovery.

Story:

At approximately 7:45am on Thursday, March 12, 2009, an 11 year old girl went missing from the 5400 block of H. Byrom Street in Milton, Florida. As Milton Police continued their search, they called A Child Is Missing seeking assistance. After 2,000 alert phone calls were placed to the area surrounding where the girl had last been seen, police began receiving calls from the public with information. This information led them to the girl in the 5000 block of Dogwood Drive in Milton—approximately ½ mile from where she had gone missing.

Story:

When a nine year old boy went missing in Marianna, Florida on Saturday, March 7, 2009, it was the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that responded to the call. The boy had last been seen in the 4800 block of Glendale Circle in Marianna and Lieutenant Mike Hodges included that information in what he provided to A Child Is Missing when he activated the Alert Program to assist the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office search. Though only 474 alert calls were placed in this sparsely populated area, five calls from the public with information were generated to the Sheriff’s Office. Information from those calls led Deputies to the boy who was located safe and reunited with his family.

Story:

On March 1, 2009, the Miami-Dade, Florida Police Department was search for a 51 year disabled old man thought to be in need of medical assistance. He had last been seen in the 14000 block of 177th Terrace in Miami at approximately 9:30 that morning. As they had done many times before, the Miami-Dade Police Department called A Child Is Missing to launch alert calls in hopes of assisting the search. After more than 2,800 calls were placed, the man was located as a result of the calls and returned safely to his home.

Story:

When a 13 year old girl went missing from the 400 block of Southwest 13th Street in Pompano Beach, Florida, the Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Greco called A Child Is Missing. He activated the Alert Program and more than 2,000 alert phone calls were placed to the area surrounding where the girl had last been seen. One of the alert calls was received by friend of the missing girl who, in turn, provided her location. Ultimately the missing girl was safely located approximately three miles from where she had last been seen.

Story:

On February 14, 2009, Sunrise, Florida Police were confronted with the peculiar circumstance of having located a person who could not communicate and having to find his family. This took place in the 4300 block of North Pine Island Road in Sunrise at approximately 9:00am. The “individual was found, but was not able to communicate,” according to Sunrise Police, “the [alert] calls helped us locate his family after he had a medical emergency.” Four waves of alert calls were placed by A Child Is Missing after Sunrise Police Officer Cindy McCue activated the Alert Program. After the disabled person’s family was located and reunited with him, Sunrise Police added: we “could not have handled this so quickly without [A Child Is Missing].”

Story:

A family brought a 15 year old girl to the Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff’s Office after the girl had been missing for four days from the 6900 block of Wheat Road in Jacksonville. The girl had gone missing on January 24, 2009 and was taken in by a family. Once A Child Is Missing was activated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Detective Cam McKinnon on January 28th, the family brought the girl to the Sheriff’s Office after they received an alert call and realized the girl’s disappearance.

Story:

On January 27, 2009, Sarasota, Florida Police began working a case of three missing children. Eight year old twins went missing along with a four year old at 3:00am and Sergeant Eric Bolden contacted A Child Is Missing. After securing detailed descriptions of the two girls and the boy, more than 2,000 alert calls were placed in the area surrounding the 3800 block of Greenway Drive in Sarasota. Those alert calls generated six calls to Sarasota Police with information that not only provided a location of a recent sighting of the children, but also their direction of travel. With that information, Police were led directly to the children who were safely recovered two-and-a-half miles from where they had gone missing.

Story:

Sergeant Peake and Deputy Jones of the Pasco County, Florida Sheriff’s Office were working a case of a missing 10 year old boy on December 29, 2008 when they called the A Child Is Missing Alert Program for help. The boy, who suffered from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Bipolar Disorder, had gone missing from the 29000 block of Tansy Pass in Wesley Chapel at 1:00pm that day. After nearly 1,000 alert calls were launched in the area surrounding that address, the boy was located approximately two miles away as a result of information provided to Pasco County Sheriff’s Office as a result of the A Child Is Missing alert calls.

When a four year old boy went missing from the area of Howland Boulevard and Keeling Drive in Deltona, Florida on the morning of November 20, 2008, Volusia County Sheriff’s Sergeant Heaton activated the A Child Is Missing Alert Program. Nearly 2,000 alert calls were placed to residents asking them to call the Sheriff’s Office if they had any information about the boy. After receiving calls from the public in response to the A Child Is Missing alert calls, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was able to safely locate the boy.

When Communication Specialist Chris Hodges of the Lee County, Florida Sheriff’s Office called A Child Is Missing on the afternoon of October 22, 2008, she was seeking assistance in the search for a missing seven year old girl—a case on which Lee County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Fewell was working. The girl had gone missing from the 1600 block of North Hermitage Road in Fort Myers earlier that afternoon. A Child Is Missing placed alert phone calls to the area surrounding where the girl was last seen and those calls generated information from the public. As it turned out, the missing girl had gone to her friend’s house. When her friend’s mother received one of the alert calls, she called the Sheriff’s Office to inform them the girl was safe.

Manatee County, Florida Sheriff’s Office “…this little boy was recovered and brought home safely to his family,” Manatee County, Florida Sheriff’s Detective Todd Sellitto wrote in a memo after the A Child Is Missing alert calls led to the boy’s recovery on October 13, 2008. On that day, Detective Sellitto activated the Alert Program to assist in the search for a six year old missing from the 2600 block of Cortez Road West in Bradenton. One of the alert calls was received by a woman working in a real estate office in the 5300 block of 34th Street West. She saw the boy depicted in the alert message description riding his bicycle in the parking lot adjacent to her office and called the Sheriff’s Office.

Duval County, FL Sheriff’s Office -On October 7, 2008, Detective Richardson of the Duval County, Florida Sheriff’s Office called A Child Is Missing seeking help in the search for a 16 year old girl, possibly in need of medical assistance, who had gone missing early that morning. Nearly 3,000 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the 1100 block of Dawn Creek Court in Jacksonville where the child had last been seen. “The missing female and another runaway were recovered,” Detective Richardson said. “The juveniles were located in a public park the following morning,” he said, “a citizen who received the call saw them sleeping in the park, recognized the clothing description of the female who was reported missing, and called the Police.”

Holmes County, Florida Sheriff’s Sergeant Eddie Eaton activated the A Child Is Missing Alert Program on the afternoon of July 1, 2008 seeking assistance in locating a missing 57 year old woman who was thought to be in need of medical assistance. Twelve hundred alert calls were placed in the vicinity of the 2000 block of Landing Cove Road in Westville. According to Lieutenant Chris Wells, this resulted in approximately 12 calls with information to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office. Ultimately the missing man was located at the house of a friend who didn’t know authorities were looking for him.

Tavares, FL (Lake County) – Shortly after 2:00 pm on Monday, June 19, 2007, the Lake County, Florida Sheriff’s Office received a call from someone who had heard the alert call launched by A Child Is Missing and subsequently seen the missing 12 year old girl for whom they had been looking. The girl was last seen at approximately 11:00am that day and Lake County Sheriff’s Sergeant Hardin called A Child Is Missing and spoke with Technician Ron Bannis at 1:06pm. Bannis took the pertinent information, mapped the area in Sanford, Florida from where the girl had gone missing, recorded the alert message, and launched in excess of 1,400 alert calls. These calls resulted in two calls to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office—one of which led deputies directly to the missing girl

Several of these calls led police to the whereabouts of the woman.

Margate, FL (Broward County) – “Many residents in the complex and adjoining neighborhoods came out in response to the calls and police presence,” said Margate, Florida Police Officer Maldonado after his agency activated the A Child Is Missing Alert Program on January 28, 2008 regarding a missing 10 year old boy. “It did, indeed, become a complete neighborhood effort,” Maldonado said. At approximately 2:15pm the boy went missing, Margate police called the Alert Program about two hours later, A Child Is Missing launched nearly 4,000 alert calls, and the boy was ultimately found hiding in the bushes nearby watching the police activity he had created. He was then safely returned to his parents.

The next morning, after regaining his faculties, the man phoned a neighbor from Coral Gables, Florida—approximately 120 miles from Naples. The neighbor, knowing the man had been reported missing, called the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to tell them where the man was.

Shortly after 5:00pm on December 4, 2007, the Indian River County, Florida Sheriff’s Office phoned A Child Is Missing regarding an 11 year old boy who had gone missing earlier that day. The Alert Program placed nearly 4,000 calls in the area surrounding the 8000 block of 126th Lane in Sebastian, Florida where the child had last been seen. One of the people who received an alert call, contacted the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and informed them the child had been in an argument at school that day and was afraid to return home. Armed with this information, Deputies were able to locate the boy unharmed.

Naples, FL (Collier County) – On August 23, 2007, the Collier County SO called A Child Is Missing to help locate a missing elderly person in need of medical assistance. The individual was located approximately three days later after being seen by someone who had received an Alert Call. Avon Park, FL (Highlands County) – On August 19, 2007, the Avon Park PD recovered a three year old child who had left his home and didn’t know how to get back. One area resident recognized the child’s description and located a relative with whom the child was living who was unaware that the child had even left. West Palm Beach, FL (Palm Beach County) – Palm Beach County, Florida Sheriff’s Deputy Vanner called the A Child Is Missing Alert Program at 4:08pm on Sunday, June 18, 2007 to request the assistance of the Alert Program for a missing girl in West Palm Beach, Florida. The girl had been missing since the previous evening and deputies had little success in locating anyone with information about her. It wasn’t until June 19th, the day after the alert calls and two days after the girl had gone missing, that a tip came into Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as a result of the A Child Is Missing alert calls—a tip that led investigators to the missing girl.

Boynton Beach, FL (Palm Beach County) – A 72 year old man went missing from his home on May 7, 2007 at approximately 5:25 PM. Miami, FL (Miami/Dade County) – On November 30, 2006, at approximately 5:30 PM, the Miami Dade Kendall Police Department contacted A Child Is Missing to ask for assistance with a missing child. Officer Christopher Alfonso gave the ACIM technician a full description of the missing 9 year old boy, along with the last known location, allowing the technician to pin point an appropriate calling radius. Within minutes over 1600 phones began ringing in the community. One called received by a resident resulted in the safe recovery of the youth. Officer Alfonso said, “Resident received a phone call with the description; observed juvenile on the street matching description; returned juvenile back home.”

Story:

Sarasota, FL - On September 23, 2006, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office began a search for a 78 year-old woman who had gone missing from her assisted care facility—a search that ended with a response to one of the hundreds of automated phone calls that had been placed to the area adjacent to her home by the A Child Is Missing alert program. Upon taking the report, the Lt. Joe Haynes called the toll free number for the A Child Is Missing alert program, provided key information to the technician, and, shortly after, the region where she was last seen area was ringing with calls requesting those in the area to check their yards and complexes for the missing elderly woman. Many neighbors came out and assisted in the search for her, and were safely recovered approximately 2 miles from where she was last seen. Lt. Haynes was quoted as saying “We received many comments in person from businesses and citizens who received calls and were actively searching their areas. We had an outstanding response, and outcome due to your service.”

Pembroke Pines, FL - On April 29, 2006, an elderly woman with Alzheimer's was reported as missing from her home in Pembroke Pines (Broward County), FL. Det. Arcuri of the Pembroke Pines PD contacted A Child Is Missing contacted by with information regarding the woman's absence, a description of the woman and the region. Approximately 1400 calls were placed in the vicinity of the woman's last known location, asking for citizens to be aware that this person was missing and to look over their property for her. Of the responders, one call led to her recovery - the responder observed the missing person, and after getting the alert, contacted the police, leading officials to return her to her home.

Miami, FL (Miami-Dade County) - On April 21, 2006, a seventy-year-old man was reported missing from his home in Miami (Miami-Dade County), FL. A Child Is Missing was contacted by Officer Walthour of the Miami-Dade County SO (Miami Gardens District), who reported a full description of the missing man to be broadcast to the community in the hope that a neighbor might have information leading to the recovery of the missing man. A Child Is Missing alerted 580 homes and businesses in the region surrounding where the man was last seen. Miami-Dade County received multiple calls from people in the area, including one person who had seen the man earlier that morning, and provided an updated clothing description and direction of travel. After hearing the alert, the neighbor notified the police, leading them to recover the missing man shortly after first contacting A Child Is Missing

Lively was spotted on US 441 near Sheridan Street in Hollywood, FL and another sighting was reported near Hillsboro Blvd in Deerfield Beach, FL. Within Days of the sightings, over 45,000 calls were placed to people in the two vicinities where the kidnapper and abductee were last seen. The alert was heard by a relative of Steve Campi, who had been telling friends and relatives about his trip hitchhiking from Georgia to Orlando and then from Orlando back home to Davie. Campi described the long trip with a man he later learned was Lively. Lively had no money, and Campi paid for the gas, Campi said. Campi described an older man with a much younger woman who had driven him over 11 hours in a pick up truck. One of Campi's relatives, who had received the alert, called authorities on Wednesday night. The U.S. Marshals, along with Davie police, checked on the tip. Campi pointed law enforcement to places Lively may be seeking work or shelter, he said. U.S. marshals checked a nearby pawnshop and found that Lively pawned some items at a shop at U.S. 441 and Stirling Road.U.S. Marshals called an Orlando day labor staffing company called Bayside Staffing, where Lively had filled out an application at around 5:30 a.m. Campi was relieved police were able to find Lively quickly. ''I'm glad everything worked out for the girl,'' Campi said. ''And she wasn't harmed because that would have been on my conscience.'' Bradenton, FL – On December 8, 2005, an elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease grew disoriented and wandered away from her assisted-care living facility in Bradenton (Manatee County), Florida. When she didn't arrive for supper, the nurse called the Manatee County SO, which in turn utilized the A Child Is Missing Alert program to assist in her rapid and safe recovery. The Manatee County SO gave ACIM a full description of the missing woman, which they in turn broadcast as 1894 alert calls across the region where she was last seen and thought to be headed. Of the fifty to a hundred calls from the people in the area wanting to help in the search, four gave detailed information by having seen a woman meeting her clothing description walking along the side of the road, ultimately resulting in her recovery within 30 minutes of the alert calls being placed.

Milton, FL –On November 28, 2005, a 10-year old boy ran away from his home in Milton (Santa Rosa County), Florida in order to avoid punishment for misbehaving at school. The parents called the Milton PD when their son didn't return from school as scheduled, and Milton PD promptly utilized A Child Is Missing as a tool to help recover the runaway. After getting detailed information regarding the child's appearance and last known location, ACIM placed 2194 alert calls over the region, resulting in numerous calls back with useful leads to guide the police in recovering the child. The runaway was reunited with his parents safely and in time for dinner.

Fort Myers, FL (Lee County) – On October 25, 2005, an eighty-year-old woman was reported missing to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office during the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma. After determining the validity of the case, Becky Creghan contacted ACIM to place alert calls over the area where the missing woman had last been seen. A Child Is Missing alerted 3243 homes nearby, and received five calls back regarding the case. One of those callbacks was a Husband and Wife that had received the alert, and had located the missing woman lying in the woods two blocks from her home. They contacted the police and she was transported to a medical facility. She was recovered in good condition. We believe the abductor was made aware of the search and released her in a vacant field and a nearby person heard her cry and found her. It is believed that the suspect was later captured after he abducted and raped a 10-year-old in Nov. 2000 in the same area.

Approximately 40 informative calls came in as a result, including one from a person who gave the man a ride to the bus station. The missing gentleman was recovered in Jacksonville approximately an hour after the calls went out, and he was returned home in good condition.

Officer Wick of the NPB PD contacted A Child Is Missing and reported the situation. The found man was unable to remember where he was staying or even his own name, without the help of his ID card. A Child Is Missing placed 4533 calls to the vicinity of where the found man was picked up before being taken to the police station. NPB PD received approximately 100 calls from residents, including a neighbor who was aware that a family next door to him had family visiting from New York, including a man meeting the description read in the ACIM alert announcement. The man was returned to his family within two hours of the calls being launched.

Jupiter, FL - Jupiter Police Department - On December 7, 2004 a 12-year-old boy was reported missing from a school bus stop in Jupiter, Florida. A Child Is Missing technician launched 1205 alert phone calls to homes and businesses in the area where the boy had last been seen, connecting the areas between his home, the bus stop, and the school. The Police Department received calls from residents, and one such reply got a confirmation of the child's location, by one of the other parents at the bus stop. This reestablished jurisdiction and the crime scene. The missing child was located approximately two hours after the calls were launched, on a vacant lot. He advised that he was chased by a pit bull, and remained in that location until the police came to pick him up. A Child Is Missing technician launched 2334 alert phone calls to homes and businesses in the area where the girl had last been seen, and along the path she was headed on her bicycle. The Police Department received several calls from residents, and the child was recovered approximately two hours after the notifications went out, about 23 miles from her home. The child had made the trip in the dark, and was sitting on the front porch of a person who had received the calls. He listened to the message on his answering machine again, confident that it was the girl in question and notified the police. This improved the profile of the missing person. Law enforcement found her on the street walking her dog, not knowing where she was. She was safely returned to her residence in Bradenton.

One phone call was received by employees of a local furniture store, which led workers to look around and discover the woman sitting in their warehouse, which is located about a quarter-mile from her home.

A short time after the calls were placed, someone who received the message called the Sheriff’s Office to report where they had seen the woman. Lake County, FL – Lake County Sheriffs Office - There had been an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old girl from a school bus stop. The attempt was not successful, but was the third incident of this type in a short period of time. The girl was able to give a detailed description of the vehicle and one of the suspects. The agency relayed this information to us and we generated calls to the area giving the description in an effort to locate the suspects before any harm came to children in the area. The suspects were located on a job site in a nearby town, independent of ACIM calls to the area, but several residents did call the Sheriffs Office to report sightings of the suspects.
