Story:

Aurora County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office “The missing child was found asleep in a nearby schoolyard. The neighbor who discovered the missing child was aware of the situation due to the ACIM alert,” wrote Lieutenant Millspaugh. The child was a 2 year old girl that had been reported missing overnight when her mother returned from work at 3am. The girl’s father had put the child to bed along with two other siblings around 9pm. A Child Is Missing placed 100 alert phone calls to direct neighbors during the overnight hours and then an additional 1000 alerts at 7am. The schoolyard where the girl was discovered sleeping at 8am was a quarter mile away.

Story:

Littleton, Colorado (Arapahoe County) Police Department “We appreciate your assistance in locating the parents of the two children. We received a call from a neighbor of the girls and were able to locate the parents.” This was written by Communications Supervisor Redfern after activating A Child Is Missing Alert on June 2, 2012. Two girls, aged 4 and 5 had been found walking along a busy intersection in Littleton. The girls were able to give their first names, but no other identifying information and a canvas of the area did not produce further clues. Upon activation of the alert, over 1,000 telephone alert calls were sent surrounding the intersection, giving the girls’ description and asking anyone who might know them to call Police. Shortly after the calls were sent, a neighbor called the department, and it was discovered the children had wandered nearly half a mile from their homes.

Story:

Arapahoe County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office Sunday, September 11, 2011, a 17 year old boy with diminished mental capacity was reported missing from his home in Englewood at 6:30pm and Sergeant Walker led the search. He activated A Child Is Missing Alert and more than 2,000 phone calls were sent to homes and businesses in the area. The agency received phone calls in response to the alert and one of those was from a gentleman who had given the boy a ride. The man was able to direct Police to the area where he dropped the boy off. He was located safe, approximately 5 miles from where he had gone missing.

Story:

Arapahoe County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office On Sunday, July 18, 2010, a 7 year old girl suffering from mental illness was reported missing from a group home in Denver. Sergeant Lebsack activated A Child Is Missing Alert as his agency had done with successful results several times in the past. More than 1,400 alert calls with the girl’s description were sent to residents and businesses surrounding the address where the girl had last been seen. In response, a call was received from a woman stating she had found the girl and taken her to a local religious facility. When deputies reported to that location, the girl was found safe, 1.28 miles from where she had gone missing.

Story:

Arapahoe County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office A 7 year old girl, who had last been seen in a pink t-shirt and blue jeans at 4:35pm, went missing from the 7600 block of Rosemary Circle in Centennial on May 10, 2010. Shortly after, Deputy Finley activated the A Child Is Missing Alert Program and nearly 1,400 alert calls were placed to the area where she had last been seen. In response to those alert calls, the Sheriff’s Office received dozens of calls from residents with information. One resident, having received the alert call, passed the information to a friend, who in turn located the missing girl. Ultimately, the girl was located safe, one half mile from where she went missing. The total time from activation to safe assisted recovery was 37 minutes, thus preserving law enforcement time and resources.

Story:

Longmont, Colorado (Boulder County) Police Department Longmont, Colorado Police located a six year old boy who had gone missing on August 16, 2009 as he was playing in a friend’s backyard. Police were led to him after activating the A Child Is Missing Alert Program to assist their agency’s search for the boy who had gone missing from the 1400 block of South Collyer Street in Longmont. A Child Is Missing placed more than 1,900 alert calls on behalf of Longmont Police resulting in several calls to Police from alert call recipients. Information from those calls resulted in the boy being located less than ½ mile from where he had gone missing.

Arapahoe County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office - “Thanks for a great service,” said Arapahoe, Colorado Sheriff’s Sergeant Stewart following a case in which A Child Is Missing worked with his agency to locate a woman in need of medical assistance on November 15, 2008. The woman had gone missing from the 6000 block of South Ukraine Street in Aurora, Colorado that evening and Sergeant Stewart activated the Alert Program for assistance. After nearly 2,000 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding where the woman had last been seen, residents were able to pinpoint the woman’s location.

Story:

“Thanks so much for the worthwhile program,” said Arapahoe County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office after the agency activated the A Child Is Missing Alert Program on December 20, 2007. A 52 year old woman, possibly in need of medical assistance, went missing from the 3100 block of East Hinsdale Place in Englewood at approximately 5:00pm that day. After more than 3,000 alert calls were placed to that area, the Sheriff’s Office received three calls from the public with information. This not only led to the woman’s recovery, but also positive media attention on the Sheriff’s Office.

Story:

Boulder, Boulder County, CO – Boulder Police Dept. An elderly man suffering slight dementia had been reported missing and ACIM was asked to assist. Over 1900 calls were sent out alerting residents. A woman who had received one of the calls found the man about a half-mile away at a market and called police.
